Flag Football

Since the end of March, the boys have been playing Flag Football. The season recently ended, and Peter and I couldn't be happier! Clifford seemed to enjoy it, while Kristjan said never to sign him up again (though he says that about a lot of things that are new and unfamiliar to him). Peter and I didn't care too much for it (one main reason is it's too slow for me...too much starting and stopping). Part of the problem was this was brand new to everyone, with it being the first time our B&G Club has offered it. And we ended up playing teams from two other B&G Clubs who have played this for years. Some of those teams use Flag Football as their warm up season before real football (we got our butts kicked by those teams, it was ridiculous). The other reason is it took up our weekends, where the weather is starting to perk up and we're limited on leaving for camping trips. The positive part of all of this was our coach, Adam. He was Kristjan's soccer coach, and the guy is amazing with the kids. He's just so patient. And even though you can tell he really wants to win at the games, he doesn't get upset with kids and encourages them to have fun. Peter ended up being the assistant coach, filling in when work interfered with Adam being at the games, and I was the team parent, sending out weekly emails and arranging the team party. There was only one difficult parent/child combo on the team, which at times did make it frustrating to deal with. We all tried to be patient and overlook their behavior (after an email exchange with the mom went to far with her, I was guaranteed by the sports director that our little family would never have to deal with them again in the future..nice!). Other than that, all was good. I know Clifford wants to play it again next Spring. We're not quite sold on the idea, but we'll see.

And here are a few pics from the team party
