Kristjan's Tooth

So last weekend, Kristjan was outside playing all day. He took a few tumbles on the cement and his face got scraped up a bit. After dinner Sunday night, he was back outside. He was bent over pushing a huge toy truck, when he tripped and fell. I was outside watching the boys and looked over at Kristjan just as he fell flat on his tummy and the front of his face slammed against the sidewalk. His lip immediately puffed up and started bleeding. He ended up cutting the inside of his lip with his front tooth. Inside he went for the rest of the evening and cuddled with his daddy. Later in the week the swelling finally went down and he would only complain about his mouth hurting when brushing his teeth. Well, on Thursday I noticed that Kristjan's front right tooth looked dark and dirty!! I'm super strict with the boys on brushing their teeth, so I was confused (thinking that maybe plaque grew on his tooth overnight?). Pete took a look and decided Kristjan should have the tooth checked out. Friday morning, off we went to find a new dentist closer to home and have the tooth checked out (turned out their original dentist was out of town until late next week). Kristjan got checked out and sure enough, the nerve is completely dead and the tooth needs to come out. And there's a possibility that Kristjan may have damaged his permanent tooth as well. So in about two weeks, we take him back to meet the pediatric dentist and discuss the minor "operation", then have another appointment to have it pulled. Fun Stuff!

Family Time

The boys had so much spending time with family. Grandma Jane, Uncle Roddy and Uncle Matt came up twice this month. The first time (including my mom coming with them) they all came up to watch the boys for us while pete and i went out of town for a wedding. And then the second visit was this weekend. Roddy had to fly out super early on sunday morning to go back to California, so we had them come spend the night. Clifford loved spending time with his Uncle Roddy while Kristjan cuddled with Grandma Jane.

CPS Follow Up Letter

DETAILS FOR FOLLOW-UP ACTION TAKEN: Peanut can absolutely be in the house, but would recommend that it be out of reach to prevent him from accidentally getting into it. Kristjan should not ingest peanut. If people are eating in around him, they simply should wash their hands and face before touching him or kissing him. With topical exposure, hives can occur but this is not life threatening as long as he does not ingest the peanut or rub it in his mucous membranes (mouth, eye, nose).

we DO keep peanut butter out of reach from kristjan (in the cupboard over the stove in the far corner). and anytime i have TOUCHED him or KISSED him AFTER i had peanut butter and i didn't wash my hands or mouth (this is rare, mind you), he immediately gets benydryl-regardless if he has signs of hives.

Any Questions?

Nielsen Reunion 2009

This last weekend was the Nielsen Family Reunion in Ocean Shores. We had tons of fun and ate lots of yummy food! Thank you Uncle Gene and Aunt Debbie for a wonderful time!! I enjoyed spending time with some family members that I never really had a chance to talk to before. The boys loved hanging out with all their cousins. The house we were all staying at was on the beach, though it took about a good 10 minute walk to actually get to the beach. The first day there we took the boys to go play in the water. The mixture of their dry skin and the salt water didn't go over too well; soon enough they were screaming and crying in pain. We had to drag them back to the house for a shower. Luckily, the rest of the weekend for them in the water went fine. At the beach, we flew kites, looked for seashells, played in the sand. At the house, we just chilled around the fire with family. It was a great time and we're excited about next years get-together.
