Blueberry Picking

This morning I took the boys to our favorite blueberry farm to pic berries. We had an enjoyable time, considering it started to lightly rain on us as soon as we arrived at the farm. We didn't stay for an extremely long time, but I think the boys lasted longer than last year. The boys found some snails while picking, and a few tiny ones ended up making their way home with us along with the blueberries! We picked about 4.6 lbs worth of berries. Not too shabby. The boys love it when I bake homemade blueberry muffins, so we should be able to enjoy quite a few batches for a while. I even have enough to bake a pie. Afterwards we went to lunch at McDonalds and split a meal between the three of us. I'm not a huge fan of the play area, with who knows what type of germs floating around in that thing. But I went ahead and let them play in the play area for a (very) short time. All in all, it was a good outing with my boys.

Snoqualmie Lake

The first weekend in August Pete and Clifford met up with friends Nick and Nate for a weekend backpacking trip up to Snoqualmie Lake. I believe this is Pete's fourth time there within a years time. I think he really likes the long distance of the hike. They took Sheeba with them, and I was told she did excellent on the trail and was tuckered out by the time they reached their campsite. Clifford hiked well too, keeping up with the men. He talked Nick and Nate's ear off. Clifford really likes them. He's done that before on another hike, just constantly chit-chatting them up. Pete says they're really patient with him. All in all, the hike was good, weather held up, and they even floated out into the lake with a raft. On their hike back to the car, they stopped at one section to jump off rocks into a pool of water.

As for Kristjan and I, we obviously stayed home. Kristjan played with the neighbor boy, rode his brother's bike, and played video games while I worked on organizing and packing for the upcoming family reunion. That evening we both just relaxed around the house, staying up late watching cartoons and painting our toes. Kristjan doesn't like sleeping alone in his room when Clifford is gone, so I made him a bed on the couch. But shortly after I fell asleep, Kristjan came crawling in bed with me. It was all good until I woke up in the middle of the night to find him laying horizontal in the bed. We slept in late the next morning and just cuddled. It was a good weekend :)
