Fort Nielsen

For Easter weekend, Pete went out snowshoeing with his cousin Daniel and buddy Nick. I dropped Pete off at Daniel's place in Tacoma on Thursday night. The next morning the three of them headed to White Pass. Their goal was to hike in to "Fort Nielsen", a secluded spot off trail Pete and Daniel found years ago. They didn't find that exact spot on this trip, but Pete said they came close. So for about three days the guys dug in the snow! I guess they think it's fun?! They built themselves a "kitchen" area, with shelves underneath their work station, and a snow cave to just sit in and chill. It was their "man cave". Pete said at one point they attempted to start a fire, but it didn't last long. All three guys 'cuddled' in one tent, with Daniel sleeping in the middle (I'm sure Daniel kept them all warm with his body heat). They came home extremely dirty, stinky and exhausted. The plan was for Daniel to bring Pete up to Aunt Janets (that's where the boys and I would be for Easter), then we'd all head home together. I guess Daniel was tooooo tired. So Pete got to Nick's house, which was about 10 minutes away from Aunt Janet's house, where I picked him up. They had fun.
