Eightmile Campground

Our first trip of summer vacation was to Eightmile Campground in Leavenworth. We joined 4 other families. Everyone had a great time! Our first day there was on a Friday. Peter took the day off so we could get an early start and beat traffic. We were the first to arrive, so we set up our tent and organized our gear. Later we ventured out for a walk to check out the river and surrounding scenery. We came across a huge rock wall, perfect for rock climbing! As the evening went on, the other families started to arrive.
Day two of our camping trip started off with a laid back morning. Once everyone felt motivated, some of us made a trip into Leavenworth to walk the town. We stopped into the cheese shop so Kristjan could sample some gouda cheese (his fav!). As a treat, we bought a small wedge to go along with our lunch. While in town, we also stopped into a sporting goods store so James and Peter could purchase some rock climbing gear. It was a hit back at camp. Almost everyone went out to do some rock climbing. Throughout the day we also hit up the river to let the kids and dogs play. And right before dinner, Haley hooked up her hot glue gun (in her car) and had all the kids work on a craft.
On our third and last day of camping everyone took their time packing up camp. We made one last trip down to the river, as well as got some rock climbing in. Before heading home, our family and James' family went into Leavenworth for a late lunch.
