Clifford's Palate Expander

I don't think I ever updated on Clifford's ortho work. He officially had his palate expander put in a week after school started in September. The first piece that was made for him was HUGE and had to be re-done. The doctor, thankfully, decided to switch and go with a different appliance instead. On a quick Google search (so I could look up the technical dental terms), Clifford was originally to have a Rapid Palatal Expander, which would have required us to turn a "key"that is on it to help his mouth expand. Instead, Clifford ended up with a Quad Helix Appliance, which is just spring loaded and doesn't require us to do anything. To be honest, though, I STILL can't believe how much this small piece of metal costs!!!! The first week or so was rough on Clifford. We had to buy some Orajel for him. But after that initial week all has been good. There's been a few times we've had to get after him for chewing gum or sticky candy. He was suppose to have his 6-week check up today, but I had to reschedule it for two weeks out since today was picture day at school, and the only available appointments are when Clifford is in school. So fingers crossed that all is going well and the Doctor has only great things to say!
