End of Basketball Season

Basketball season recently ended for Clifford. It's bittersweet. Clifford definitely improved this year and was getting in the swing of things, so it's sad that it's over, yet I'm so happy I don't have to worry about making it to practice and the games on time. Part of the issue was because of the move and the other part was both boys asked me to sign them up for Move 60 (after school exercise program). So on Tuesdays, they'd get done at 4:15 pm and I'd have to have Clifford back up to school for his 5 pm practice. It really made it hard to get dinner and homework accomplished. And our games this season were in the middle of the afternoon, rather than mornings. But we managed to survive. I heard a rumor that the B&G Club may offer mid-season basketball and the coach may sign up. I may be crazy enough to sign Clifford up instead of waiting until next winter.

The team this year had about half the boys from last year return. Teamwork improved immensely with them this year, with more communication between the boys on the court. We had a new coach, who the parents really liked. He focused on teaching the basics of basketball, rather than making them learn plays. They decided on the team name Royals. They only won one game the entire season. However, each game they played hard and only lost by a few points. Pete and I loved sitting in the audience, cheering hard for the boys. It's so much fun!

Last week the team had their awards party. Our team mom was amazing, keeping us all up-to-date on the games and snack schedule. AND she set up a fun party for the boys and siblings to enjoy. It was held at Jump Planet. There was an hour of jumping and running around before the boys munched on Pizza. The coach handed out awards, spoke a little about each boy, and then had the teammate receiving their award prior to say something nice about the next teammate. Clifford's coach spoke about how Clifford could always make him laugh and put a smile on his face, how sweet and goofy he is. I don't remember what his teammate said about him, but we're proud of Clifford to say something positive and nice about the next teammate (a few of the boys actually said something negative!! but then again, these were the boys who weren't that good at the sport and only played bc their parents signed them up).

All in all, it was a good season. I look forward to the next one :)
