Family Reading Night

Last Thursday we attended Family Reading Night at the school. It was organized and put on by the teachers. Peter and I really enjoyed it, and thought it was a great activity. The theme for the event was pirates, so as a child arrived, they were given a treasure map and were encouraged to visit each island (or table). Once the task was completed they would get a stamp on their map. When 5 or more islands were visited and the tasks were completed, they could turn their map in for a free book of their choice. Clifford and Kristjan's favorite part out of the entire event was the book walk (just like a cake walk, but the winning prize was a book). At the end when leaving the event, milk and cookies were available. This was a lot of fun. It got us out of the house for an hour and each boy came home with two new books each that they were excited to read.
