Introducing Sheeba

The weekend before the 4th of July we added to our family. We're happy to introduce Sheeba, an Australian Cattle dog. She's 2 1/2 years old. Her previous owner was Nancy, one of Pete's co-workers. Nancy was feeling guilty that she didn't have the time or energy for her, so she approached Pete asking if we'd be interested. We told her we were, but it all depended on how the boys took to her with their allergies, in which case we had options to re-home her to a good home. So far, so good!! She had one accident in our house the first night, but that was it. She can sit, lie down and shake on command. You can tell she's had previous training, but sadly her last owners didn't really follow through and keep up with it. Sheeba is a ball of energy, who enjoys the water, hiking (we exhausted her on our last trip!) and has a stick fetish. So far the only issue we have with her is she likes to bolt out the door if she sees a cat (the neighbor we recently had a falling out with has 3 of 'em, which she lets roam outside freely...we don't need to deal with her). Chasing after her when she does this is a headache. She's gotten in major trouble a few times for this. We'll eventually look at getting the wireless fence for her. My sister and a friend each have this for their dogs, and I've only heard great things about this. Since I'm the main parent home, the main responsibility of having a dog is on me. At times, it feels like an inconvenience, but I'm slowly working on a schedule with her, and it's getting easier. She has adjusted well to our family, and us to her. The only thing that would make life easier with having her is if we had a fenced yard...but that will come in time :)

Taking Sheeba for a walk to the lake. She liked playing in the water.

Sheeba getting a bath her first night with us. She wasn't too fond of it.

Taking Sheeba for a walk one day...Clifford thought this would be a good idea.
