Nielsen Family Reunion 2015

This years Nielsen Family Reunion was in Ocean Park, with Daniel and Jessica being in charge. The drive was long, and the house we stayed at wasn't large enough for everyone to stay at, so unfortunately many had to stay elsewhere. Other than being annoyed with how the planning process was handled, the weekend was fun. It was great to see everyone again and to catch up. Kristjan spent most of his time hanging around Kelly and her daughter Maddie any chance he could get. Every time I looked around for Kristjan, he was by Kelly's side. As for Clifford, he spent his time running around or playing football with his cousins. Trips into town were made. Playing on the beach was relaxing. Family dinners were filling. It was a good time. Rumor has it Tara/Michael/Franie are next in line to plan the next reunion, so we're excited to see what's to come for next year :)

Night #1: Spaghetti Dinner
Everyone gathered outside, catching up

Poor Donovan...he ended up getting stung multiple times by a wasp. Here's Peter trying to make him feel better by giving him some benedryl.

Sheeba relaxing
Quick game of Phase 10
Getting together to walk the town and grab lunch together
Back at the house, Donovan teaching Aunt Janet how to play (his version of) Phase 10
Kristjan and Aspen palled around all weekend long
While in town I stopped by the candy shop and picked up a small version of Jelly Belly's Beanboozle game (half the jelly beans are normal and tasty, other half are gross and disgusting). Both the kids and adults, who were good sports about it, played along. Lots of laughs!

Saturday morning we made it out to spend the day at the beach. We've never been to Long Beach when it hasn't been the 4th of July and crazy busy. So this was really low-key and relaxing.
And of course not even 15 minutes on the beach and Peter went over to help someone unstuck.
There's Kristjan going off with Kelly :)
After time on the beach, our little family headed into town for something to munch on while the boys got ice cream.
Here are pics from Saturday's Potluck Dinner
Thinking this will be a new tradition at each reunion....getting a picture with Emily (who still has a little crush on him) :)
Our last morning at the reunion. We packed everything up and did some quick cleaning of the house before heading into town for lunch and ice cream.
