Clifford had his last basketball game the second weekend of February. I'm happy the season is over because it means no more Friday night practices (with me sitting on a cold bench waiting patiently) and Saturday afternoon games. But I'm sad too, because all the boys on the team were finally getting the hang of it. Pete and I enjoyed the games. These boys were entertaining to watch. I believe they won almost every game except for one. We were impressed with Coach Vinny. This was only his second year coaching. We greatly appreciated how much he cared for the boys. He was always positive, and never once aggressively coached these boys from the sidelines (like we've seen some do). We've heard him say "These are second-graders. It's a game. It should be about fun." Clifford himself is very much a team player. It's been such a pleasure to watch him play. He even scored a point during one of the games! A few days after the last basketball game, they had their team party. When it was Clifford's turn to go up for his award, Coach Vinny said how much he enjoyed having Clifford on his team. He always looked for him and his big smile. I look forward to signing Clifford up again in the Fall, and will definitely request Coach Vinny.
