So last night Kristjan had his friend Hannah over for a play date. Along with Clifford, they decided to play hide 'n seek in the house. It was Kristjan's turn to count. He thought it would be fun to twirl around in the living room with his eyes closed while counting. Both Pete and I were on the couch watching him just as we saw him walk into the computer stand. There wasn't a loud smack or anything, but he immediately fell to the ground and spun around to us crying. The only thing that registered to me was all the blood gushing out of his mouth. SERIOUSLY??!!! Ugh. My first reaction, of course, was "oh, my poor boy is hurt". My second reaction was "get him in the bathroom so blood doesn't get on the carpet". Third, "where's my camera??" He smacked his mouth good. He pierced his bottom lip, ended up with a long scratch under that same lip, and smacked the gum line right at his 2 front teeth and the one to right of them. Pete was trying to figure out if this was an ER visit when I mentioned for him to call the dentist. We were able to schedule a 7:30 appt that night. So while our neighbor watched Clifford, we took Kristjan to the dentist. After an examination and a few xrays, it was determined that nothing was damaged. His mouth will just be very sore for a few days. And 2 of the 3 teeth are now very loose, which weren't loose at all prior to this incident. The Doc said that the teeth will probably come out as early as a few weeks or as late as a few months. Hmmmm...guess the tooth fairy better be prepared :)
