Hallelujah, the last day of school finally arrived (last Wednesday, to be exact)!!! No more teachers, no more books! It's so nice to finally have a break from the school schedule, but, of course, that means boys are home ALL DAY LONG. And this summer Peter and I don't get a break. His parents are in Alaska, so the luxury to send them down to Yakima for a week (or two!) is basically non-existent. Luckily, we do have a busy summer schedule ahead of us, with all the weekends just about booked up, but during the week can sometimes be a little harder. I'm hoping to keep them busy with some day hikes, the movies, and swimming at the different lakes in the area. I just gotta survive until 2:30 pm when Peter gets home for the day ;)
We were invited to a friend's pool party after school. Boys spent four hours soaking up the sun, splishin' & splashin' with their friends. Everyone was asked to bring a snack to share, so I got in and made some summer-themed sugar cookies. All were devoured!
Later that evening, we continued celebrating the last day of school by having ice cream for dinner, and misc junk food for dessert. Clifford and Kristjan love that we do this every summer. What better way to kick off summer vacation than by doing this?! So we're going to tweak this a little and make this our new tradition.
