Math Night
Last Thursday the school had their Math Night event. After dinner we headed over to check it out. There were various math activities set up in the cafeteria and gym. Our boys particularity liked the guessing games, such as guessing the weight of different shapes and sizes of pumpkins, guessing how many pumpkin seeds were in the big pumpkin, and guessing how many items were in jars. Upon arrival to the event, students were given green and white colored slips of paper. These were used at the guessing games. If you guessed close, or exactly on, you would win the items in the jar. Well, come to find out, Kristjan guessed correctly for the jar of warheads candy! He came home from school the following day with a bag full of that candy. And come to find out, Clifford guessed correctly on the weight of a pumpkin, but I guess you had to still be there at the event in order to claim the pumpkin. We only stayed for a portion of the event. Clifford was a little bummed about missing out on getting the pumpkin.

Turkey Cookies
Since Halloween has come and gone, life has slowed down in the Nielsen house (for now...). Other than the last of the boys' soccer games, it's been so nice to not have anything scheduled on our calendar that we HAVE to go and do. This last weekend we did a whole lot of nothing, just being lazy in our pj's and enjoying a fire in the fireplace. I did manage to get motivated Sunday afternoon to bake some sugar cookies using the new cookie cutter Peter printed off for me on his 3-D printer. They turned out pretty cute!

More Pre-Halloween Fun!
School Harvest Party
Thursday night we attended the boys' school Harvest Party. This year they did a movie night, with the movie being Hotel Transylvania. The boys had their own money to spend on pizza and candy there. There was also a gift basket raffle, so they each bought themselves a ticket. Surprisingly, Kristjan won a basket! We were excited for him :)

Pajama Day
Boys dressed in their pajamas and brought a stuffed animal to participate in pajama day at school. Each of their classes had a harvest party, as well as the PTA gave out free popcorn for popcorn Friday.
Oktoberfest
Friday night the boys got dressed up again to attend Oktoberfest at their (future) high school. I liked this a lot. Each club at the school decorated a table and had some sort of game for the kids. The high school kids were very friendly and enthusiastic. And this event, although very well attended, wasn't crazy crowded (like the church event we attended last Sunday). And the boys each received lots of compliments on their costumes.

This Halloween season has been awesome for us! Not only have we attended tons of fun parties and events, but we devoured lots of yummy treats! I really enjoyed getting in the kitchen and whipping up all these creations for the boys :)
