We stopped at the store on our way to the ferry. Kristjan has mentioned he's never had sushi and has been wanting to try it. For a grocery store, Fred Meyer's has pretty decent sushi. So Peter bought some for Kristjan and I to share. It was funny to watch Kristjan's expression on the first bite - it was NOT what he was expecting for texture. But he trekked along, eating a few more pieces. He says he still wants to try it some again at a restaurant.
While waiting in line for the ferry, Peter and I ventured to a nearby local coffee shop. They also sold ice cream. We treated the boys to mini cones.
Our view in line for the ferry. Just look at those dark skies.
On board! Waiting to arrive in Kingston
View of inside our cabin.
Not two seconds at the cabin, and something breaks. Good thing we have a couple of Engineers with us lol.
My stash of gifts.
Venturing down to the water.
Clifford practicing how to start a fire.
Hot Dog roast our first night.
James brought wood and tools to keep the kiddos entertained.
We celebrated Madeleine's birthday as well during the getaway. Her birthday was the week before the trip, so it made sense to combine the two. She was excited with our gifts - a karaoke microphone that hooks up to a cell phone and a My Little Pony hat that "waves" when you squeeze the tassel.
The next morning it started to snow!
Hunkered down inside our cabin for some board games while it snows outside.
Weather cleared up later in the afternoon, so we ventured back down to the water to look for seashells.
Clifford helping to carry over our stash of firewood for the night.
On our last day as we headed to the ferry for our journey home, we stopped at a little town to check out the local museum and enjoy some milk shakes.
