Woodland Park Zoo
While I was away on my trip, Clifford went on his class field trip to the Woodland Park Zoo. Earlier in the school year he participated in the class fundraiser by drawing a picture of an endangered specie which was included in a notepad to help raise money for their trip to the zoo. Pete arranged to have the day off from work to help as a chaperone. He was in charge of Clifford and Kevin (a bit of a wild child). From what I heard, the trip was FUNtastic. Here's some pics Pete took while on the adventure.
Lowes Build & Grow
This morning we took Clifford and Kristjan to their first Build & Grow at Lowes, which is a free event. They each received an apron, hammer, and safety glasses. Today's project was a terrarium. We guided them through the steps, but they built it all by themselves. Once the project was completed, an employee filled their terrarium with soil and a few flower seeds. They were very pleased with their accomplishment. I asked if they would like to attend more of these, and they said yes. It looks like Lowes has 2 workshops a month. I'll definitely take more advantage of these and sign the boys up as often as I can.
While we were at Lowes, we decided to pick up some supplies to build a planter box. Pete got busy building as soon as we got home. It looks amazing!! We just need to buy more soil to finish filling up the box and plant our veggies.
A Perfect Checkup
Boys went to their 6-month dental check up on Friday. I'm pleased to announce they had perfect results. No Cavities!!! I did learn something interesting during Clifford's appointment. As the doctor was looking at his x-rays, she turns to me and asks "Does missing teeth run in the family?" Confused, I said no. She explained that usually around 4 years old, children will start to develop their permanent teeth, which you can see under the baby teeth in x-rays, though it can come as late as 9 years old. Clifford, however, has two teeth on the bottom that don't show permanent teeth, yet he does in the matching area on his top row. So unless they show up by the time he's 9, he will forever have 2 baby teeth!!

Guess Who Is the New PTA Secretary?!
ME!!!!!!
As I mentioned in a previous post, I was contacted by one of the PTA members in charge of the nominating committee and asked if I'd like to be nominated for a position on the PTA board. After reviewing the detailed lists of each position, I replied back stating I was interested in the Secretary position. I was told I would then need to attend the next PTA meeting when they announced the nominees. That meeting was tonight. The nominations were read. From my understanding, there were three slots open: Secretary, Membership and President. My name was called for Secretary and another gal's name for Membership (so far no one wants to take on the daunting task as President). Then the board members were about to move on to the next topic for discussion when I politely interrupted and asked what happens next? The PTA president, Shannon, smiles at me and says "You're it! You're the new secretary". The room got a chuckle by my surprised reaction. I just thought I was being nominated and there was going to be some type of voting process or something. NOPE! No one else wanted the position, so I got it!! I'm officially the new PTA Secretary for the next school year. I still think it's crazy that I'm doing this. I was never active myself in high school with sports or politics, and I definitely didn't have involved parents during my school years, so this is really a new concept to me. BUT I'm happy to be involved :)

An EGG-cellent Easter
We had an egg-cellent Easter weekend! :)
We originally had plans to celebrate with Daniel and his family, but he decided to change plans so we stayed home (and this gave me the opportunity to try out tons of new delicious recipes from Pinterest. I was in the kitchen a lot this weekend, but well worth it!) . We started Friday night off by grilling up some hamburgers for dinner and relaxing, happy knowing the weekend had finally arrived. Saturday morning we took the boys to the community egg hunt that we've attended the last two years. They got their face painted and balloon animals made for them. When it was time for the egg hunt, both boys dashed onto the grassy field with all the other excited kids. It was controlled chaos. We had a lot of fun. There was a scary moment for me though. I saw a lost little girl about 1 years old crying and walking around near us. I kept my eye on her, but no one else was helping her even though it was obvious people could tell she was lost. So I went over to her and helped her find her parents (scary!!!!!!). When the egg hunt was over, we left and grabbed some lunch before running a few errands. Once home, the boys stayed outside the rest of the day playing with the neighbor kids. And it was a gorgeous, warm, sunny day for us. We spent the rest of our day with our neighbors bbqing, swimming, and dying easter eggs. It had been a long busy day for everyone. I think all the adults were falling asleep where they sat before deciding to head home. I know Clifford was fast asleep once his head hit his pillow. Sometime during the night the Easter Bunny made a visit to our house. He left a basket full of goodies for Clifford and Kristjan, as well as hiding easter eggs all through the house. Pete and I amazingly got to sleep in a bit while they hunted for the eggs (very nice!!). Easter Sunday was another beautiful sunny day. We spent the day lounging outside, smoking a brisket for dinner, and then ending our day with a quick evening trip to the lake. We had such a wonderful weekend! Hope y'all did too!
