Happy Birthday Peter!

Last Friday was Peter's birthday. He turned 35!! Crazy how fast time flies! He took the day off from work, and we ran some errands around town together. His mom stopped by our house when the boys got out of school and took them up to the Brignone's house to spend the night. Having the evening to ourselves, we went to Goodwill for some clothes shopping for Pete (seriously, we love that store! why shop at the mall?!) and to a local camping store. We were then going to go to some Italian restaurant for dinner, but then we saw some hole-in-the-wall pub and made a detour for that. Good decision. We had a blast there, just the two of us! We each ordered a meal to split, enjoyed a few drinks, and played some pool. I had never played pool before, so Pete had fun teaching me. We did a lot of bantering and teasing back and forth with each other. It was a lot of fun. We definitely need to plan more nights out together. We were home by 8pm, and spent the rest of the evening doing laundry, baking, and watched a movie. May sound like a boring birthday, but Pete really did enjoy it :)

Rocket Launch

The official last night of Cub Scouts was the rocket launch. It was held in the field at the boys' school. All the boys loved this! It was a great way to end the year of scouts.

This pic was from two weeks prior during the rocket build. I think Pete had more fun than the boys.

Love the look of excitement Kristjan has on his face in these pics!

Summer is (almost) here!

Summer is almost here! Boys only have a few more days left of school, but the weather is already starting to warm up! With the sun coming out, the outdoor pool of our complex opens up. Last week it officially opened, so one day after school, burnt out from all the homework, I told the boys to put on their swimsuits and off we went. I also took advantage of enjoying the sunshine while boys were in school by visiting Picnic Point (my favorite beach). Unfortunately, I got a bad sunburn. My own fault, but at least the tan will look nice :)

Have the pool all to ourselves!

Gorgeous view at the beach

My sunburn. It was actually a lot redder in color in person...owie!

Clifford's New Bike

Our boys desperately needed new bikes, so while out on a recent grocery shopping trip at Fred Meyers, we decided to take a look at their bike selection. We lucked out and saw there was one on clearance. We couldn't pass it up, so we bought it for Clifford. We felt so bad there wasn't 2 available, and promised Kristjan we'd get him one soon. Clifford, of course, was very excited. The entire weekend he kept thanking us. How cool are we?!

School Carnival

The last Friday in May was the school Carnival. Pete and I usually help out at all the events, but honestly, we're burnt out, so we didn't do as much for this event. Pete was asked to set up the prize board, since he did such an awesome job with it last year. He did, and decided he's going to redesign it for the school (it's a bit of a pain to set up). I was asked to donate some cakes for the cake walk, which I did. I personally don't want my boys coming home with a huge cake and figured other parents share the same thought, so instead I baked up a bunch of jumbo-size cupcakes and decorated them. Like last year, my cakes were a hit. Everyone compliments me on my decorating, but all I really do is find a pic on Pinterest and copy it. I guess not everyone can do that :)

The event itself was a blast. Now that the boys are older, we can let them have a bit more freedom and go off with friends (so long as they check in with us periodically). We helped out at a few booths, but mostly spent our time standing around talking with other parents. The PTA put on a raffle in hopes to raise the last bit of our financial goal. We actually won a certificate to a steak house in Bellevue! We quickly found out that the restaurant is very, very expensive. We'll be saving up our pennies to attend lol.

A sample of my cupcakes. The second pic is the candy bar cupcake (chocolate frosting with pieces of candy bar and caramel drizzled on top) and the third is the butterfinger cupcake (peanut butter frosting with chunks of butterfinger candy)

Memorial Day Weekend

While I was home enjoying 3 blissful days alone at home, Pete and boys went on their annual Memorial Day guys-only camping trip! They met up with Daniel and his boys, and went somewhere in the North Bend area. I was told everyone had a lot of fun. Pete failed in the picture department, only taking a few. Enjoy what he managed to take :)

Cub Scout Cross- Over Ceremony

Well, we survived our first full year of both boys being in Cub Scouts!! What a fun adventure for them! The last pack meeting was the zip-line crossover. Sorry the pics aren't too good. Pete was taking video with our camera (and some reason blogger doesn't like when I upload videos), so all I have are the few I managed to get with my phone. So proud of our boys! We're looking forward when it starts up again in the Fall, but until then, we'll enjoy our break from the weekly meetings :)

Kristjan looses his 2 front teeth!

Right before Memorial Day weekend, Kristjan went in to have his two front teeth pulled. His right front tooth started coming in behind a baby one (the tooth right next to the front one) and his "dead" tooth (which that one is his actual right front tooth). The "dead" tooth was loose, but as the permanent tooth started coming in, the loose one actually began to tighten up. And the left front baby tooth was beginning to get loose too, but we were afraid the same thing would happen with that one. Luckily Kristjan already had an appointment scheduled for his 6-month cleaning, so I was able to inquire about this without making a second appointment. The doctor agreed that both front baby teeth would need to be pulled. I was really happy for Kristjan to finally loose that ugly brown "dead" tooth. But too much time had passed with the permanent tooth coming in that I didn't get see Kristjan with a toothless gap (I thought Clifford was the cutest thing with his!). Oh well. So the day came for Kristjan to have his teeth pulled. He cried and fussed in the dentist chair. I couldn't believe how easy and quickly it was to yank those out! Later that afternoon Kristjan was leaving with Pete and Clifford to go on their annual guys-only camping trip, so he had Clifford help him write a note to the tooth fairy explaining that he would be gone but to please leave the money under his pillow. The "tooth fairy" wanted to try something different, so instead of leaving money, she left a gift. When Kristjan came back home, he was actually thrilled!

P.S. Kristjan will more than likely need braces. Yay! *eye roll*

My New Tattoo

Here's my new tattoo!! The weekend after Mother's Day I went in to have it done. I've been wanting this one for the longest time. In fact, I was hoping Pete would get it for my 30th birthday, but it just didn't work out. Since my Mother's Day weekend didn't go as planned, this was my gift in return. I've been wanting a tattoo that represents my boys, but I'm personally not a fan of names. I think it's tacky (no offense to anyone reading this and has such tattoos). A few years ago while doing a search, I came upon this design. It's a "C" and a "K" in the shape of a heart. I loved it immediately and knew it would be my next one. Well, now I have it! And this one didn't hurt nearly as bad as my first one on top of my foot. I'm going to need to go back in for a few touch ups, but that won't be too bad. I already want another one. The next one I get I want to be a matching one with Pete. Something small and simple. We don't wear our wedding rings, so I thought about something (maybe) on our ring finger. We'll see.
