Cookie Time!

Every Halloween I bake up some homemade sugar cookies in the shape of pumpkins and ghosts and let the boys decorate them. In the past I have Pete help me keep this activity organized while I snap pictures, but Pete was occupied with something else last night, so I decided to let the boys have a 'free for all' with the decorating. Oh boy, did they have fun. MOST of the sprinkles and the frosting stayed on the table (I had to scrub only a few frosting spots off the carpet). The boys piled on the frosting on each and every cookie, while taking a turn to lick their fingers or knife before dipping back in for more frosting (these cookies will obviously only be eaten by us now). It was nice for me to just sit and enjoy the moment with my boys, not caring about any rules. After every cookie was decorated, the boys got to eat one cookie each before heading to the bath for clean up.

Preschool Projects

Kristjan has slowly started bringing home his preschool projects. Like last year, I'll periodically post pics of his projects. Enjoy :)

Hockey Practice

Saturday and Sunday evening we tagged along to Dominick's hockey practice at the skating rink. He did pretty good considering he's new to the sport. My favorite part during practice was watching the little boys (about 4/5 years old) out on the ice, trying to stay up on their feet. They were too cute! Clifford, Kristjan and Damien had fun running around the rink and rough housing. Everyone, especially Pete, Daniel and Uncle Dale, got a kick watching Damien and Kristjan tackle Clifford. Kristjan may be a sensitive, doll-loving boy, but when it comes to rough housing, that boy is tough. I took some good pics of this, plus Dominick in his hockey uniform.

First Kiss

This was so cute, I just had to share. Kristjan is a ladies man. The girls around our apartment complex (who are also a few years older than him) are always coming by to say hi to Kristjan and are always telling him how cute he is. When I take Clifford to school, these same girls always find us for the main goal to pick Kristjan up and give him a hug. When preschool first started, I asked Kristjan who his new friends were, and if there were any girls in his class that he liked (last year he really liked Isabelle). His answer to me was "Chloe". She's this cute, petite little girl with long brown hair. So I take Kristjan to school today, and Chloe comes straight up to Kristjan and starts chasing him. Both are laughing and having fun. Her mom told me today that at home Chloe is always saying how she's 'going to marry Kristjan". Chloe is still chasing Kristjan when they both stop and Chloe comes up to Kristjan and gives him a kiss on the cheek!!! How Cute!!!! My son's first kiss!!! And Kristjan didn't seem to mind it at all. I couldn't wait to get on the phone and gush to Pete about this mornings happenings. Yup, our son is a ladies man! :)

Zoo Boo

Yup, another trip to the zoo! This one was 'zoo boo'. Kids could come dressed up in their halloween costumes, although Jessica and I forgot about this and our boys didn't dress up (all was good; not every child there was in costume). Pete and Daniel were going to come, but since Daniel is working extremely long hours, they stayed behind to get some stuff around Daniel's house done. The downside to this visit was the boys were having some attitude issues during the trip. Jessica and I were exhausted and frustrated by the end of the visit. Still, looking back at all the pictures we took, we did have fun.

Northwest Railway Museum

Saturday we took the boys to the Northwest Railway Museum. Last Thanksgiving our cousin Franie gave us two tickets good for one free train ride, so we just had to purchase tickets for the boys. The tickets were going to expire next weekend so we figured we better use them now (a big thank you to Franie!!!). It was an enjoyable adventure. We drove down to North Bend (you can also get on at Snoqualmie, but we wanted to do some shopping afterwards). The air was crisp, it was sunny out, and just really peaceful. The boys were giddy with excitement when they saw the train coming. When we reached the Snoqualmie stop, we decided to get off the train and spend an hour or so looking around the train museum before heading back. The boys wanted to climb up on all the trains (some you could, but most had strict signs saying 'stay off'). Pete, being the engineer, took his time reading all the facts and info, and inspecting the trains in great detail. There was a little gift shop where you could buy lots of train items, especially Thomas the Train. I bought some postcards for the boys' scrapbooks and the children's book "Tootles". On the train ride back we sat in an area of the train where it was completely open (there were safety rails up to prevent anyone from falling out). With the warm sunshine beaming down on us and the feel of the cool air, we almost fell asleep on the ride. We definitely will do the train ride again next year.
