May Update

The Everett Imagine Children's Museum visited Kristjan's school for a family activity one night, bringing along lots of fun crafts to do. The girls tagged along with us.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!! I decorated the dining room and Mel made us a homemade Mexican meal.

Peter and I, along with Mel and James, were suppose to go to a Mariner's game. Tickets were provided by work. On the morning of, Mel and I were each getting all dolled up in our respective homes when James calls us from his office to say we didn't have any tickets. For whatever reason, their boss gave away all the tickets, even though it was clearly stated that we wanted to go. We weren't too happy about this. To make the best out of a bad situation, the four of us drove down to North Bend to have lunch (paid for by Romac). We all enjoyed being kid-free for a few hours, and the food and views were amazing.

For Mother's Day, Grandma Jane and Grandma drove up to visit for the afternoon. Peter and I made them lunch (shrimp fettuccine). We enjoyed each others company while playing a game of cards. Kristjan also gave Grandma Jane a manicure. Then later that night, Peter made me a meal of my choice: steak, salad, bake potato and asparagus. Yum!

Mel and I went to see BUSH in concert. Come to find out both of us were huge fans as teenagers of the band and each had a crush on Gavin Rossdale. The concert was in downtown Seattle on a Tuesday night, and it didn't start until 9pm. But it was well worth staying up past our bedtime and feeling exhausted the next day because the show was AWESOME!! Ahh, dream come true to see Gavin Rossdale live in person. The man is gorgeous. And it was so much fun rocking out.

We went on a family camping trip with Mel & James and the girls to Wenatchee Confluence State Park. We attempted to swim in the river (it was overflowing and freezing), went rock climbing, grilled up some burgers, hot dogs and s'mores cones, played frisbee, learned to hacky sack, and just enjoyed everyone's company. Before heading home, we made one last stop in Leavenworth for lunch.

For Memorial Day weekend, much to Peter's sadness, we did not go out backpacking per tradition. We were exhausted from work and past weekend activities, and we just weren't ready for such a trip. Instead we spent Saturday doing some things around the house, then on Sunday we went for a day hike to the Big Four Ice Caves and ending the day with a bbq dinner. Then on Monday we did some rock climbing at Marymoor Park.

April Update

With me now working and life starting to get busy again for us, I've gotten behind with updating my blog. I didn't really want to do a HUGE photo dump, I thought it would just do a monthly update of what we've been up to. Once I'm (hopefully) caught up, then I can (hopefully) go back to regular postings as our activities happen. So here's the update on the month of April:

I slipped and fell in the driveway as I was leaving for work....and it was bad. I landed on my knee and I swear I blacked out for a split second. I had just kissed Kristjan off to school too, so he was still nearby for me to call for help. He unlocked the house so I could hobble up the stairs to my room. I had ripped a hole in my leggings at the knee, and my butt was wet from the ground. I whimpered in pain as I maneuvered around my room trying to find new clothes to wear. Kristjan helped me take my shoes off and pull the pant legs of the leggings off as I tried holding the material off my skin. Once I bandaged my knee and redressed, I had to have Kristjan tie my shoes for me. My knee was on fire and I couldn't bend it. I then bucked up and headed back to the car to head in to work. Once at work, I assessed the damage to knee and re-bandaged it up until I could go home and have Peter clean the wound. The pics below make it look bad...it looked even worse in person. It ended up taking over a month to officially heal. I now have a gnarly scar.
 A week later

Here we signed Kristjan up for Middle School classes! For his electives, he chose Art and Robotics.

On a sad and tragic note, Jane's boyfriend, Sam, passed away from a heart attack. We made the trip down to Yakima to attend his funeral and support Jane.
We spent the night at Peter's parents house. Here's Chica...still alive and kicking at the moment.
Peter and Dee doing some essential oil research
Buddy cuddled me during our visit
We took Jane and Grandma out to breakfast before the funeral. Here are the boys looking handsome as we wait for them to meet us at the restaurant.
Clifford getting loves from his Tia Maria at the funeral
Boys stretching their legs and playing with cousins before the drive back home

The temp agency I'm going through for work brought me a little surprise for Administration Day!

Clifford participated in Spring soccer with his team.

Easter

Again, another holiday I feel like I dropped the ball. I didn't realize Easter was coming up until the Tuesday before. And I still didn't plan anything until Saturday night. Ugh! To make it feel even less festive, Peter had a project at work to go in and work on. Double Ugh! We made due with what was planned and I told myself to just plan better for next year.

According the boys, they're not too old for the Bunny to come. All week Kristjan kept dropping hints about how he hoped I'd leave out some candy for them. I had not intended too. But I started feeling guilty, so while I was out running errands on Friday, I picked up a handful of sugary treats.
We made waffles with whip cream and fresh strawberries for breakfast.
A last-minute attempt at making a bunny cake for dessert. Turned out cute.

April Fools

Another year of getting creative for April Fools Day. I made cinnamon rolls for dinner (pulled bbq pork) and cat poop in kitty litter for dessert (chocolate cookies in crushed graham crackers). The boys got a kick out it.
