Happy Birthday Peter!

Saturday was Peter's birthday. He turned 36!!! We were up bright and early that morning...him to get the smoker ready and me to fix him a hearty breakfast. We both worked around the house, finishing up the little odds and ends that needed to be done before his birthday BBQ party I planned for him later that day. Most of all our close friends came out to help us celebrate. It was a lot of fun this year, especially with being in a house. There was so much more room, and the weather was beautiful so I was able to have everything outside (and salvage my clean house inside!). There was more than enough food and drinks, and plenty of laughter! The party lasted late into the evening. It was a good time and I know Peter thoroughly enjoyed himself!

Rocket Launch '14

Last night was our Rocket Launch with cub scouts. It was also our LAST meeting for the year (YES!!!). We will attend some Cubmaster Hikes throughout the summer, attend Day Camp, and meet as a Committee for the summer planning session, but other than that, Peter and I can take a break!!

All the scouts had fun at the launch. Both Clifford and Kristjan lost their rockets in the trees on the very last launch. Clifford didn't seem to mind, though Kristjan was sad. All in all, it was a great ending to an interesting scout year :)

Volunteer Tea

Yesterday Peter and I attended the school's Volunteer Tea. It's our last one we'll ever attend at Martha Lake Elementary (I wonder if our new school does something similar...?). We enjoyed a nice little lunch put on by the staff, chatted with other parents, and enjoyed some music from the primary Choir.

Yard Clean Up

Last Wednesday we FINALLY were able to schedule to have a dumpster dropped off at our house so we could FINALLY clean up the junk in the yard!!! A few things got tossed in here and there during the week, but last Sunday morning was the big clean up day. Our friend Erik came over to help us out, and I rewarded him with a delicious sandwich and some beer. Unfortunately, the dumpster was just a size too small for all the junk lying around. There are still some things left, but the majority got thrown in. Bob (the owner's son) came over in the afternoon to pick up the cab of the truck that's sitting in the side yard. The bed of the truck is still there. No idea when he'll come get that next...I just hope it's soon. The yard looks so much better. Peter received many nods from neighbors as they drove by that day. So far since moving in we've only met two neighbors on the block, but they both made a point to tell us what a good job we're doing with cleaning up the place. Now that the junk is gone, our next project is put up a new fence line later this summer. Slowly but surely we'll get it done :)

Delivered! WooHoo!!!
Peter found this little guy mixed in the junk pile. He moved him to safety in our garden.
 The clean up begins!
 Completely full!
Hey, look! Part of the truck is gone!!
