Pjs and Pancakes
This morning Kristjan had some school friends over to celebrate his birthday. This year he had a pancake party, where everyone came over in their pajamas and joined us for breakfast. We served up hot pancakes, bacon, strawberries and juice! The kids loved it! Afterwards we opened gifts. The kids played for a bit while the parents talked before everyone started to leave. The party was a success and a lot of fun!!

Clifford and Bella sittin' in a tree....
K-I-S-S-I-N-G!!!
It was so adorable on Thursday when Pete and I went to pick Clifford up from school. So Clifford likes Bella, who happens to be the one who gave him a kiss on his cheek (which I blogged about in an earlier post). We were walking away from the school to our car, and Bella and her dad happened to be walking in the same direction. Bella kept yelling "Bye Clifford" until Clifford finally paid her attention. I looked over at her and she goes "I'm Bella. I'm in his class". I replied back "Clifford talks a lot about you". She then says "I talk about Clifford a lot too!". Pete and I both smiled and chuckled. We're all still walking in the same direction and Bella runs over to Clifford and says "walk with me over here". So Clifford and Bella are walking together, Pete and I are smiling and thinking how cute this is, and then Kristjan goes "ah, you're walking with Bella!", with a look and sound of teasing in his voice of 'that's your girlfriend'. Clifford immediately tries to hide his smile and mumbles "yea yea. be quiet Kristjan". They continue walking with each other until it's time to part ways at our cars and say goodbye to each other. It was so dang cute!!!!

Paradise
Over the weekend Pete and Clifford went on a snowshoe trip with friends Gordon, Nick and Nate up to Paradise in Mt. Rainier. Clifford was so excited to go on a 'guys-only' trip. I dropped them of at Gordon's house on Friday night. About 5am Saturday morning Nick and Nate picked the three up and headed out on their adventure. Pete said Clifford did alright, but he's still a bit young for any future snowshoeing trips. The guys' goal was to build a snow igloo, which they succeeded in doing. Clifford thought it was awesome to sleep inside it. His favorite part of the entire trip, though, was when the guys let him hold their knives (just for a second, of course). I guess during the night they had a visitor or two come into their igloo and steal their camp food! They woke up the next morning to find their food torn apart everywhere outside. Pete figured it was a fox. Gordon said he's sure there was mice as well. Pete was flabbergasted by this incident, since he's never had an issue with animals getting into his food in winter. I guess the guys told Clifford it was a 'monster' and that the 'monster' left footprints, since that's all Clifford could excitedly talk about when I drove back to Gordon's house to pick them up on Sunday.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Thought I'd share a few pics of the boys on this (rainy) Valentine's Day.

Kristjan had a party at preschool. He made his own 'mailbox' and received lots of valentines and candy from his classmates
Clifford doesn't attend kindergarten on Mondays, so his class will have a party tomorrow. Over the weekend he had a valentine art project to complete. Since he was away camping, we worked on it this morning while Kristjan was at school. I think he did a good job (he was to create a pattern, which they're learning in school).

As for Pete and I, we're not doing anything special for Valentine's Day. Pete is really happy that I've come to the conclusion that Valentine's Day isn't a 'big deal'. Sure, it would be awesome for him to surprise me with flowers and candy, or take me out on a date. But right now there's more important things to 'waste' our money on. Instead, we're going to make a delicious steak dinner with potatoes, asparagus, salad and bread. For desert, I made chocolate-covered strawberries and a strawberry trifle from the Nielsen cookbook (Aunt Debbie's recipe). To end the night, I'm hoping to put the kids to bed early and then cuddle on the couch with Pete and catch up on some "House" episodes. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! :)

Weekend Adventure
This weekend has been laid back...for me at least. Pete took Clifford on a 'guys only' snowshoeing trip up to Paradise in Mt. Rainer with a few of his buddies for the weekend. Kristjan and I have been enjoying our time together. We came home Friday night after dropping Pete and Clifford at Gordon's house in Burien. It was a bit late but I let Kristjan stay up and watch a cartoon until I was too tired to stay awake any longer. It was a bit frustrating putting him to bed, since he felt he'd be 'scared' sleeping alone in his room without Clifford. After giving him a handful of glow-sticks and keeping his bedroom door open (and him trying to sneak out of the room a few times), I got him to fall asleep. At around 6am the next morning, Kristjan crawled in bed with me and fell back asleep. I woke up shortly later to feeling a warm liquid sensation on my back: he accidentally peed my bed. Oh well. We cleaned everything up and went back to sleep for a few more hours.
Saturday we went out on a 'date'. I took him to see 'Gnomeo and Juliete'. We shared some popcorn and candy. The movie itself was cute (I'd definitely recommend seeing it as a matinee showing....or even at a $2 theater if you have one of those...but just my opinion). Afterwards we went to some craft stores. I bought some scrapbooking supplies and Kristjan bought a 'treasure' box, which he painted red and purple when we got home. While at Joann Fabrics, the power went out (when we got home, our clocks were flashing so the power went out at home as well). It was storming really good outside, and traffic was backed up everywhere due to the lights not working. We stopped by Papa Murphey's for some cheese bread to bake for dinner. Once we got home we stayed home for the rest of the evening, crafting and watching movies together.
Right now it's Sunday afternoon. Kristjan is over at a neighbor's house playing with some friends and having lunch. I'm home baking up a storm (cookies, cupcakes, muffins), waiting for Pete to call to have me come pick him and Clifford up. I'm hoping they don't wait until late in the evening to call. I made sure to have Pete take the camera so I'd have picks to blog about their camping trip. I should have those up in a day or so. Anyhow, my timer is going off. Better take out my blueberry and apple muffins :)

Harry Potter Exhibit

Today Kristjan and I, with Jessica and my neighbor Elyse, went to the Seattle Science Center to tour the "Harry Potter Exhibit". Unfortunately, cameras weren't allowed inside during the tour. We had a lot of fun looking at the costumes and props from the movie. At the end of the tour there was a small gift shop of Harry Potter souvenirs. Some was cool, but most was really overpriced! Jessica and I were hoping there would be some Harry Potter-themed candy to buy, but we were informed any that they did had was sold out back when the exhibit first opened. So I settled for some post cards to use for scrapbooking and Kristjan got a coloring book. Afterwards we had lunch at the food court before heading back home :)
