An Eventful Night

So last night we had a visit by our local EMT's. Here's what happened all within a minute. After dinner, Pete and I were lounging on the couch and the boys were rough housing. All of a sudden Clifford throws Kristjan down and you hear his head hit the floor HARD! Clifford gets sent to his room and Kristjan gets up off the floor crying to come to me for a hug. He takes two steps, then we see Kristjan's eye's roll in the back of his head, he stumbles and falls over!! I don't know how he managed it, but he came centimeters from hitting his head again on our glass dining table! In an instant I'm yelling for Pete (he's sitting right next to me) and Pete jumps up and grabs Kristjan from under the table, all the while slapping Kristjan in the face and yelling at him to wake up. (Kristjan was out for only a few seconds). While this is going on, I'm on the phone with 911 to have an ambulance come. Luckily, they're just up the road a bit from us. While we wait for the ambulance to come, Kristjan is awake and a little wobbly. Pete questioned him on his name, age, what just happened (his response "brother hit my head on the floor and you slapped me"). The EMT's showed up. The two guys were really nice and helped out a lot. They stayed about 15 minutes to check Kristjan out and to monitor him. They told us what to look for as far as any more serious signs, but since he seemed to be acting fine, a trip to the hospital was not needed (after getting used to the EMT's, Kristjan was back up trying to rough house with his brother again!). We kept Kristjan up for about 3 hours after the incident so we could monitor him. He was fine, but Pete and I were still worried even at bedtime. But Kristjan is back to his old self today. We're so grateful this didn't have a worse outcome!

An Early Christmas Gift

Earlier this week my dad and pati's christmas gifts arrived for us. He gave us the option of putting it under the tree or open it now. So Pete decided we'd open it now. It was fun watching the boys opening up the gifts. It was the BEST family gift ever-a fishing kit and poles for all of us!!! We can't wait to go fishing. We're going to be eating great this coming next year!

O' Christmas Tree, O' Christmas Tree

By the time I was done Friday finishing up my christmas shopping, taking the boys to see santa, getting our xmas card pics developed AND grocery shopping, I was way too exhausted to even think about getting a christmas tree. Instead, after visiting with Mrs. Claus on Saturday, we picked it up on our way home. We prefer having a real christmas tree in our home, but since we don't have a lot of space in our living room AND since we had to not only buy the tree but also the stand and lights, we figured it would be best to just by a small fake tree. Pete picked up some scented pinecones to decorate in the tree and help give it a nice "smell". And honestly, we love it! The boys helped us decorate. I decided to only put a few select ornaments on the tree (ones that were really special to us). Earlier in the week the boys broke our "angel" for the top of the tree (it was a lighted star). I didn't want to go out and by another one, so I came up with a great idea. The day before, Kristjan had made an "angel" in preschool as one of their art projects. So i just taped it to the top of our tree. It turned out great!

Cookies at the North Pole with Mrs. Claus

Clifford and Kristjan dressed up this Saturday morning to head towards the North Pole to have cookies with Mrs. Claus! The boys colored christmas pictures and sang christmas songs while waiting for the arrival of Mrs. Claus. Once she arrived, all the kids were excited! She read "frosty the snowman" and "the night before christmas". The kids then returned to their stations to color pictures for their "hot chocolate" mug. Once they were done coloring they could go sit on the sleigh next to Mrs. Claus and tell her what they hoped Santa would bring them. Then while the "elfs" helped set up the cookies and decorations, all the kids danced and played limbo! Everyone was happy when it was time to go back to their seats to frost and decorate their cookies. Each child got two sugar cookies to decorate and eat! And it wouldn't be complete without a nice cup of cold milk. When it was getting close to time for Mrs. Claus to head back to the toy shop, everyone gathered for a group picture and received a candy cane pencil! It was a great experience. We're so happy we could take our boys to this, and we are always impressed with the young ladies who are in charge of putting these wonderful activities together!

Here Comes Santa Claus

After school on Friday we took the boys to the mall to see Santa Claus. They were excited to go sit on his lap and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. I love our mall Santa. From what I've heard from others, the same guy has been playing Santa for YEARS!!!

Turkey Day '09

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving this year. We went over to Aunt Janet and Uncle Tom's house again to celebrate turkey day. Unfortunately both Uncle Tom and Michael had to work and Pete's cousin Daniel stayed home sick, but there was still plenty of family around to share good times and good food with!
