Zombie Preparedness Class
On Tuesday, we attended a Zombie Preparedness Class through our local REI. The class went about how we expected it would. The gentleman presenting the class talked about what to do in an emergency and what supplies we should have, with some zombie humor mixed in throughout. Since Peter and I are backpackers, and our short time in church, we're already pretty knowledgeable in this area. But the class was free, and it was a good reminder for us to think about what our family plan is in case of an emergancy :)

Pumpkins and Zombie Feet
Monday afternoon we carved our pumpkins!!
Then for dinner that night I decided to have our annual Halloween-themed meal. This year we devoured Zombie Feet (meatloaf), Ghost Poop (mash potatoes), and Candy Corn Seeds (corn).
Surprise Lake
We completed our October camping over the weekend. Ten down, only TWO more to go!!!
Our destination this month was Surprise Lake in the Skykomish area. We had to wait until after soccer games were done for the weekend before we could head out. So we didn't start hiking until almost 5 pm. The hike itself was pretty good, with the trail being well maintained. We had to hike half of it in the dark. Luckily we were able to find a camp spot without any issues. We set up camp fairly quickly. Boys were so exhausted that they fell asleep, and we had to wake them up to eat dinner. During the night we all slept great and kept warm. The morning we made a quick breakfast before packing up camp. Boys kept themselves busy feeding the birds (it started with only one bird around, then before we knew it two more came). The hike out was easy and painless. And the best part about the entire hike? NO RAIN!!! It was great!!!! This was by far our best (and my favorite) hike.
